About
The Variation and Choreography Workshop is a one-day experience designed to inspire, challenge, and elevate dancers’ artistry through both classical training and creative exploration. Dancers will train with Orlando Ballet Company members Hitomi Nakamura and John Abenanty, gaining valuable insight from professional artists. This full-day opportunity offers three registration options, allowing students to refine their technique, explore choreography, or experience both in a professional and supportive environment.
Students will explore the fundamentals of choreography while actively creating and refining their own work. Through guided instruction, they will develop essential skills including structuring movement phrases, building and evolving motifs, and crafting choreography with intention and clarity. The workshop also introduces elements of production, with insights into lighting design (previously led by Ms. Pascal from the Valencia team) and wardrobe considerations, while encouraging collaboration and the practice of giving and receiving constructive feedback.
This workshop offers three participation options:
Variation Workshop – Sunday, July 5th, 2026 (9:30 am – 12:30 pm)
Choreography Workshop – Sunday, July 5th, 2026 (1:00 – 4:00 pm)
