Preparatory Program

Orlando Ballet School dancers train with the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, and pedigreed European Methodology, a program that specializes in the development and training of young students, embraces sound ballet principles and incorporates elements of the French, Italian and Russian schools of training. Whether you’re just starting out or taking steps toward the world’s greatest stages, you can cultivate your love for ballet as early as 18 months and hone your craft through your teenage years.

Baby and Me Class

Baby and Me Class

This 45-minute class focuses on coordination, direction, balance, dance movement and rhythm concepts that are great for early development of kinetic skills. Designed for one dancer and one parent or designated guardian, this class is perfect for moms, dads and other immediate family for exercise and bonding with their little one.

OBS Junior Summer Camp Students ages 3 to 5

Pre-Primary – Ages 2.5 to 3

Students are introduced to music and movement in our Primary Levels. The emphasis in these courses is on rhythm, dynamic, and placement, so that students graduate from Primary with an understanding of spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, and focus. Each level is divided by age to accommodate the developmental needs of every student. No auditions are necessary for Primary classes.

OBS Intro to Ballet Summer Session Ages 3 to 4

Students are introduced to music and movement in our Primary Levels. The emphasis in these courses is on rhythm, dynamic, and placement, so that students graduate from Primary with an understanding of spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, and focus. Each level is divided by age to accommodate the developmental needs of every student. No auditions are necessary for Primary classes.

Primary C Class Age 7

Primary C – Age 7 – by placement only

Designed to elevate the dance student’s knowledge of ballet with three classes, two days per week, these classes ensure the student’s understanding of the fundamental movement methods. Students will advance according to individual progress in obtaining technique, strength and flexibility. As students progress, they will be presented with a more challenging ballet vocabulary and quicker pace.

Level 1A Age 8

Level 1A

Students ages eight to teenage may register for a placement class for Level 1A. OBS faculty follow a specific graded curriculum designed to strengthen technique and stamina through practical training and lessons in theory. Students in Level 1A take two ballet classes and one jazz class per week.
