Preparatory Program

Orlando Ballet School dancers train with the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, and pedigreed European Methodology, a program that specializes in the development and training of young students, embraces sound ballet principles and incorporates elements of the French, Italian and Russian schools of training. Whether you’re just starting out or taking steps toward the world’s greatest stages, you can cultivate your love for ballet as early as 18 months and hone your craft through your teenage years.

Baby and Me Class

Baby & Me

This 45-minute class focuses on coordination, direction, balance, dance movement and rhythm concepts that are great for early development of kinetic skills. Designed for one dancer and one parent or designated guardian, this class is perfect for moms, dads and other immediate family for exercise and bonding with their little one.

OBS Junior Summer Camp Students ages 3 to 5

Pre-Primary – Age 3

This 45-minute class consists of movement activities meant to develop coordination, direction, balance, and rhythm through fantasy and the utilization of colorful props. It is a perfect preparation for our Primary level class as it introduces some very basic ballet vocabulary in a creative setting for your child’s imagination. Student’s last class will be an in-studio showcase performance. No audition necessary for pre-primary classes.

OBS Intro to Ballet Summer Session Ages 3 to 4

Pre-Primary – Age 4

Students are introduced to music and movement in our Primary Levels. The emphasis in these courses is on rhythm, dynamic, and placement, so that students graduate from Primary with an understanding of spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, and focus. Each level is divided by age to accommodate the developmental needs of every student. No auditions are necessary for Primary classes.

Primary A – Age 5

Students are introduced to music and movement in our Primary Levels. The emphasis in these courses is on rhythm, dynamic, and placement, so that students graduate from Primary with an understanding of spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, and focus. Each level is divided by age to accommodate the developmental needs of every student. No auditions are necessary for Primary classes.

Primary B Class Age 6

Primary B – Age 6

Students are introduced to music and movement in our Primary Levels. Primary C Class Age 7

Primary C – Age 7+

Designed to elevate the dance student’s knowledge of ballet with three classes, two days per week, these classes ensure the student’s understanding of the fundamental movement methods. Students will advance according to individual progress in obtaining technique, strength and flexibility. As students progress, they will be presented with a more challenging ballet vocabulary and quicker pace. Students age 7 to 10 may register for placement into Primary C.

Level 1A Age 8

Level 1A – Age 8+

OBS faculty follow a specific graded curriculum designed to strengthen technique and stamina through practical training and lessons in theory. Students in Level 1A take two ballet classes and one jazz class per week. Students ages eight to teenage may register for a placement class for Level 1A.

Level 1B Age 9

Level 1B – Age 8+

Level 3A Ages 11 and Up

Students in Level 3A take four ballet-pointe classes, one character, and one contemporary class per week. Students ages eight to teenage may register for a placement class for Level 3A.

Level 3B Ages 11 and Up

Level 3B – Ages 10+

OBS faculty follow a specific graded curriculum designed to strengthen technique and stamina through practical training and lessons in theory. Students in Level 3 take four ballet-pointe classes, one character, and one modern class per week. Students ages ten to teenage may register for a placement class for Level 3.

Academy Prep Level 2

Academy Prep is an add-on focused training program designed for dedicated Level 2A and 2B students seeking additional ballet instruction. This program strengthens technical foundations, artistry, and discipline through expanded coursework. Dancers are introduced to the expectations and rigor of a pre-professional training environment. Academy Prep serves as a bridge for students ready to deepen their commitment and explore a more intensive ballet pathway. Program may require early release from academic programs to attend.

Academy Prep Level 3

Academy Prep is an add-on focused training program designed for dedicated Level 3A and 3B students seeking additional ballet instruction.
