ACADEMY AUDITIONS

Orlando Ballet School’s Academy Program – Levels 4B-6 (previously Academy 1-2-3) is a full-day ballet training program for ages 12 through 18. There are three levels determined by age and ability. Dancers placed in Level 4B train for 18-20 hours per week and students in Levels 5 and 6 train for 20-24 hours per week. Students complete their academics through virtual learning programs. In addition to classical ballet technique, dancers also study pointe, variations, modern, contemporary, and character. For more information, reach out to kmarsh@orlandoballet.org.

PRE-ACADEMY PREPARATORY AUDITIONS

Wednesday, August 14, 2024 | 5:00 – 6:30 pm

The Pre-Academy Preparatory program for Levels 2A/2B and 3A/3B provides accelerated training for students who audition and are accepted. This program is an add-on to the student’s leveled classes. Classes within this program may require an early release from the student’s school. If accepted, OBS will provide a letter to the student’s principal as needed. Eligible students must be accepted into Levels 2A/2B or 3A/3B for the 2024-2025 dance season to be considered.

In person placement classes are scheduled during specific class times for evaluation by certified faculty.

Cost: $40.00

Attire:

Ladies: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes (optional skin-toned tights with matching ballet shoes).

Men: White fitted shirt or all in one, black tights, leather belt to roll tights, white ankle socks with white ballet shoes.

Audition results are valid for 8 months. Any student wishing to enroll after their results have expired will have to re-audition.

To schedule your placement audition class, please register online at the link below. You will be contacted via email with available class times to proceed with the audition.

Current school year registration closes on January 31^st. Placements scheduled after this date will be for the proceeding school year.

VIDEO AUDITIONS

Students that are unable to attend an in person placement or audition can submit a video audition for our year round programming. Video audition placement results are preliminary and are subject to change or may be adjusted upon arrival and participation in classes.

Video requirements:

Approx. 10-15 minutes in length.

Barre work: Sampling on one side only.
Center work: Adagio, pirouettes petite and grand allegro
Ladies: Pointe work.
Gentleman: Double tour en l’air and tours a la seconde.

Following submission of your video audition, results are sent via email in 10-15 business days.

Trial classes are available for prospective students ages 3-6.

Trial classes are an opportunity for new or inquiring families to try Orlando Ballet School classes before the start of the school year. Students will get to experience an OBS Pre-Primary or Primary level class, which is based on their age as of September 1^st while parents will get an opportunity to see the facility, meet staff, and learn more about our programs during the trial class.

Pre-registration is required, please reserve your spot based on your child’s age as of 9/1/24.
