How old do housing students have to be?
Housing is available to all students who decide to attend our 2, 3, and 5-Week Summer Intensive programs!
We understand that several of our students attending the Summer Intensive will be 18 years or older. If a student decides to board at Rollins College for the duration of the Summer Intensive, they will be held to all rules and regulations put in place by the OBS staff and appointed RA’s regardless of age.
Will housing students be supervised?
Yes, all housing students will be assigned a Resident Assistant. There will be one RA for every ten students. All Resident Assistants will report to a Dorm Supervisor who will be on campus each night the students are in the dorms.
Will I be able to request a roommate?
Yes, during registration you will have the ability to request a roommate for the Summer Intensive. Please note that we will do our best to accommodate all requests, but there is no guarantee.
Do you have to be vaccinated to live in the dorms?
No, students do not need to be vaccinated in order to live in the dorms or attend our summer intensive program.
Are meals included?
Yes, boarding students will receive breakfast and dinner at the dining hall on Rollins campus. A boxed lunch will be provided by the dining hall to take to Orlando Ballet for lunchtime. There will be select days where lunch and dinner will not be provided due to an optional off campus activity. Students will be made aware of days when these meals will not be available, and they will have to make other arrangements.
What if I have a food allergy?
If you have a food allergy, you will be able to let us know through your Jackrabbit registration. We will work directly with the dining hall to accommodate any food allergies you may have.
Will there be field trips?
Yes, there will be scheduled field trips for Saturday evenings as well as on Sunday’s. Trips range from a trip to Icon Park to visiting Disney World and Universal.
Can I bring my car?
Summer Intensive students driving by themselves to Orlando may keep their vehicles on campus during the program. The student’s car keys must be turned into the Dorm Supervisor upon check-in and they will return them to the student upon check-out. Resident Assistants may also have vehicles on campus. RAs are permitted to use their vehicles during the program for OBS Summer Intensive related travel. However, all students who bring a vehicle are not permitted to transport other students in their vehicle for any reason. Parking passes must be arranged in advance and can be purchased through your registration.
