Company Auditions

Recognized among America’s leading ballet companies, Orlando Ballet delivers multi-faceted performances featuring timeless stories in one of the world’s most celebrated concert and performance halls deemed one of the “11 most beautiful in the world” by Architectural Digest. As a company member with Orlando’s only professional resident ballet company, you’ll have the opportunity to perform in one of the most varied and distinguished repertoires in the country, showcasing works by acclaimed choreographers from around the world. Dedicated to entertaining, educating, and enriching the community, Orlando Ballet also includes the renowned Orlando Ballet School, a Second Company (OBII), and impactful community enrichment programs.

Orlando Ballet supports the International Audition Guidelines. If you are interested in auditioning, please submit the following materials and then register for an audition of your choice:

  • a video with no introduction or fancy editing, consisting of the following performed in leotard and tights for women, and tight-fitting dance attire for men:
    • two classical variations drawn from the standard repertoire, danced in pointe shoes by female applicants
    • a short contemporary variation (that could consist of something drawn from the repertoire, phrases from classwork, or an applicant-created work) that illustrates the applicant’s command of a range of movements different from that demonstrated in the classical variation
    • 3-4 minutes of barre work, incorporating both sides, danced in soft shoes by male applicants and pointe shoes by female applicants
    • 4-5 minutes of center work that includes adagio, pirouettes, petit and grand allegro, danced in pointe shoes by female applicants
  • a CV (must include height)
  • a head shot
  • 2-3 dance photos that reveal the dancer’s body proportions and line
  • Applicants must upload two recent photos with their audition registration:
    • 1st arabesque
    • Tendu a la second

OBII and Trainee Auditions

Student’s aged 16-21 can officially audition for the Trainee and Second Company programs through the following opportunities:

  • During the Summer Intensive Audition Tour

  • Submitting a video audition online.
    • Video audition submissions and requirements can be found HERE.

Notification of your audition results will be emailed within two weeks of your audition. Please do not call the office within this period to ask about your results.

Please note that dancers who would like to be considered for Trainee or OBII programs, or students who are potential candidates are required to attend a minimum of 3 weeks at the Orlando Ballet Summer Intensive to be reviewed by artistic and school directors for acceptance. Potential candidates and auditionees are not guaranteed to receive a position and the decision to attend our Summer intensive programming is at the responsibility of the student and their family.

Final decisions are notified in mid to late July prior to the fall season start date.

Summer Intensive Auditions

The Pre-Professional Summer Intensive Program at Orlando Ballet School is a rigorous and transformative training experience designed for aspiring ballet dancers who are committed to refining their technical skills, enhancing their artistry, and preparing for a career in professional ballet. This immersive program offers a structured curriculum led by renowned faculty and guest instructors, allowing students to receive world-class training in a supportive and challenging environment.

The Jr. Summer Intensive at Orlando Ballet School is designed to introduce students, to a structured and immersive ballet training environment. The program offers a rigorous yet supportive introduction to professional-level ballet technique, aiming to build strength, flexibility, and artistry while refining basic skills. While labeled as “beginner,” it may be aimed at students with foundational ballet knowledge who are newer to the intensive demands of professional training.

All non-OBS students will be required to audition and be accepted to enroll in one of the Summer Intensive Sessions. This applies to all students who have previously attended an OBS Summer Intensive program in the past year.
