JOB TITLE: Major Gifts Officer

DEPARTMENT: Philanthropy

LOCATION: This is an onsite job placement at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre, 600 N. Lake Formosa Drive, Orlando, FL 32803

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, salaried, exempt

COMPENSATION: $75,000-80,000, commensurate with experience

BENEFITS: All standard in coordination with employee handbook policies

Basic Purpose and

The Major Gifts Officer will work in collaboration with the Executive Director, members of the Board of Directors and other team members to increase contributed revenue in support of annual operations, capital projects, and special projects.  This role focuses on developing and executing strategies to identify new prospects and to move donors through the giving pipeline while ensuring exceptional stewardship to foster long-term relationships. Orlando Ballet is seeking a driven, self-motivated, highly organized individual with proven major gift fundraising success, exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting Orlando Ballet in its mission to entertain, educate and enrich through the highest quality of dance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects (capacity of $10,000 + annually) to secure up to $2 million in philanthropic revenue to support all mission areas. Work in partnership with the Philanthropy team to balance annual fundraising targets and ensure existing relationships are honored in pursuit of revenue goals.
  • Successfully engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward identified individual, corporate, and foundation major donors and prospects to meet defined targets.
  • Proactively identify, qualify, and prioritize new individual, corporate, and foundation prospects through research, screening, and discovery meetings.
  • In close partnership with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and board leadership, oversee the development of strategy to support defined fundraising targets, and lead strategy and conversations with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors, engaging leadership/volunteers wherever necessary.
  • Produce written proposals, make verbal presentations, fulfill appropriate recognition, and ensure that all contractual and reporting obligations are met based on donor’s personal interest or a sponsor’s business objectives
  • Generate and oversee management of major gift forecasting, providing detailed reports of revenue achieved as requested
  • Work closely with the Philanthropy team to:
    • Establish and maintain a moves management process and associated metrics
    • Create and promote consistent donor messaging
    • Identify new or existing prospects for all funding streams
    • Ensure that all donor and sponsor benefits are fulfilled
    • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting
    • Identify and recruit volunteers and committee members to assist in supporting development initiatives
  • All members of the Philanthropy team will oversee a prospect portfolio (levels and size of portfolios to be established)
  • Serve on and participate in Orlando Ballet Board Committees as requested
  • Support all aspects of the Philanthropy team as needed, including attendance of all Season performances, the Ballet Ball, and all fundraising and cultivation events
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in philanthropic studies, nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a nonprofit development environment
  • Demonstrated and significant major gifts experience
  • Personal passion for the arts, particularly dance
  • Proven track record of ability to work independently, with great attention to detail and flexibility, in a fast-paced atmosphere under established time constraints
  • Exceptional organizational, writing, customer service, and communications skills
  • Experience with donor management and wealth screening software
  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:   

  • Advanced degree and/or CFRE credential
  • Professional background in nonprofit arts environment
  • Proficiency with donor management and wealth screening software (particularly Tessitura and iWave)

Summer Intensive Resident Assistant

Department: School

Reports To: Dorm Supervisor and Summer Intensive Coordinator

Location: Rollins College, Orlando, FL

Compensation: Resident Assistants receive full tuition and room and board in exchange for their work during the summer intensive.

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Role: Resident Assistants serve as peer leaders for their fellow students in residence at Orlando Ballet/Rollins College. While their primary responsibility is the safety and well-being of the student body, their primary focus is crafting an engaging and welcoming environment which considers and respects the needs of a diverse student population many of whom may be away from home for the first time.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Create and maintain a safe, secure, and nurturing residential environment for all students.
  • Work in conjunction with the Dorm Supervisor and Summer Intensive Coordinator to create and enforce rules and guidelines for Summer Intensive students.
  • Adhere to all Orlando Ballet School and Rollins College policies and procedures.
  • Establish a common understanding of OBS and Rollins College policies: Conduct an orientation session for all resident students; review all resident regulations and schedules; familiarize students with campus facilities.
  • Reach out to the Dorm Supervisor with any disciplinary issues as necessary based on the behavioral guidelines put in place by OBS and Rollins College.
  • Accompany students to all meals/events/recreation center during scheduled work time. No student under the age of 18 years old may remain unsupervised at any time.
  • Establish a daily routine for the students in consultation with Dorm Supervisor and Summer Intensive Coordinator. Institute engaging, informal activities for the students during evening hours. Be reasonably accommodating to students’ activity requests, while exercising mature judgment.
  • Communicate all problems that arise and cannot be handled by the Resident Assistant to the Dorm Supervisor and/or Summer Intensive Coordinator in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have turned 18 by January 1, 2025.
  • Must have auditioned and been accepted into either the 2, 3 or 5 Week Intensive.
  • First Aid and CPR Certified preferred, but not required.

Under the guidance of the Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Intern, Marketing will provide essential support to the Marketing team. This position will focus on a myriad of marketing, brand, and communications projects. Candidates should be enthusiastic and highly organized with a passion for marketing and a commitment to aiding Orlando Ballet in its mission to entertain, educate, and enrich through the highest quality of dance.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to execute comprehensive marketing plans to promote Orlando Ballet.
  • Maintain partner site listings to ensure accurate and consistent representation of Orlando Ballet across all partner sites.
  • Maintain all community calendar listings to ensure events are accurately represented.
  • Identify key Orlando Ballet School programs and events based on input from key stakeholders and ensure their inclusion in partner and community calendars to maximize visibility and engagement.

  • Maintain and update contact information database for related marketing partners and vendors.

  • Compile a list of awards programs relevant to various Orlando Ballet departments and build a corresponding calendar that includes submission deadlines and event dates.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media marketing plans, including content creation and scheduling, in alignment with Orlando Ballet’s brand guidelines.
  • Compile a list of Downtown Orlando and regional restaurants that have potential to be partners for creating unique experience packages for Orlando Ballet attendees.
  • Provide support for creative collateral needs in alignment with the marketing calendar and designated deadlines.
  • Provide marketing support for all Orlando Ballet performances, as needed.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, seeking internship credit.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Workspace.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite, email marketing platforms, WordPress, and Canva.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience in photo and video editing, with photography and video skills.

Community Enrichment Teaching Artist

JOB TITLE: Community Enrichment Teaching Artist

DEPARTMENT: Education

REPORTS TO: Head of Community Enrichment

LOCATION: Various locations throughout Central Florida

POSITION STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt, approximately 1 to 10 hours per week

 

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Community Enrichment, Teaching Artists are practicing artists in the disciplines of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts who are committed to working with young people. Orlando Ballet’s various Community Enrichment programs bring high-quality arts enrichment to a variety of groups throughout Central Florida by working through established after-school, year-round programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, City of Orlando Community Centers, Orange, Seminole and Osceola County schools, and other locations.   Applicants must demonstrate expertise working as professional artists, a strong commitment to working with educators and young people, strong communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to facilitate group decision-making, an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and executing arts programming appropriate for specific age groups.
  • Direct instruction with students which could range from VPK through senior citizens.
  • Attending professional development sessions and meetings.
  • Carrying out administrative responsibilities (such as: submission of written lesson plans, assessments, teaching schedules, program forms, and other duties as assigned).

Schedule & Compensation:  

Teaching Artists are typically hired for a semester-long program. Applicants must have availability to work during and after school hours, as well as occasional weekends, with an ability to travel throughout Central Florida to various workshop sites. Teaching Artists earn $40/hour of instruction and a $10/roundtrip stipend for travel. Workshop classes are generally 1 to 1.5 hours long and residencies vary in length but range from 8 to 12 weeks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum (2) years teaching artists experience and/or substantial training in dance education.
  • Strong content knowledge in classical ballet, performance and stage work.
  • Commitment to serving children in typically under-represented communities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with adults and children.
  • Experience with multiple age groups, varying educational settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of a second dance discipline including, but not limited to hip hop, modern, contemporary, tap, Caribbean or Latin cultural dance.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Experience working with dual language learners.
  • Easy travel access to Osceola and Seminole Counties.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Will be subject to a background check.
  • Must be able to provide own reliable transportation to off-site programs and events. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
