Giselle is a timeless romantic ballet that tells the poignant tale of a young peasant girl who falls in love with Count Albrecht, a nobleman disguised as a villager. Despite her fragile heart, Giselle is spirited and full of life—until she learns of Albrecht’s deception and his engagement to another, leading to her heartbreaking descent into madness and death. In the ethereal second act, Giselle becomes one of the Wilis—ghostly spirits of betrayed brides—who haunt the forest and doom men to dance until death. When Albrecht arrives at her grave in mourning, Giselle’s enduring love and forgiveness protect him from the Wilis’ vengeance, ultimately redeeming them both.
