World-Renowned Dancer and Teacher Returns to Orlando Ballet School
October 2, 2019, (ORLANDO, Fla.) — Orlando Ballet recently announced the newest addition to its world-class Orlando Ballet School faculty, Natasha Glos, who will head the pre-professional division, working hand-in-hand with the school’s director, Phillip Broomhead. Glos will guide and mentor upper 1 and upper 2 level students as they train for professional careers in dance. Glos will also be responsible for training students to perform at a standard that meets the level of excellence at Orlando Ballet performances and prepare them to compete in top national and international competitions. Glos’ role is critical and comes at an exciting time as the 2019-20 season brings multiple opportunities for Orlando Ballet School students to perform in the company’s mainstage productions.
Glos has performed worldwide as a soloist, guest artist and in the Corps de Ballet with the Mikhailovsky Ballet Theatre. Throughout her career, Glos was taught by some of the most celebrated dancers in the industry and has trained many dancers who have gone on to professional careers over the past 22 years. Since her arrival to the United States, Glos has served Orlando Ballet in several different capacities including artistic coordinator, ballet mistress, principal of Orlando Ballet School’s Seminole campus, and now, the head of the pre-professional division. Glos is an expert in the Vaganova technique, having graduated with honors from the Vaganova Ballet Academy, and incorporates this prestigious Russian training system into her classes.
“It’s amazing to be back at Orlando Ballet, my career in the United States started with this organization and it has come full circle,” said Glos. “I’m excited to work alongside artistic visionaries and leaders, Phillip Broomhead and Robert Hill, to take the Orlando Ballet School to new heights. I have a strong passion for teaching and am looking forward to working with high-caliber students at one of the best dance schools in Central Florida.”
Glos has invaluable experience training students for some of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions. As the new head of the pre-professional division, Glos will mentor students 12 years old and up in the Orlando Ballet School academy as they prepare for these preeminent competitions and performances. Glos will also be heavily involved with coaching students who will perform alongside the professional company in mainstage productions including “Vampire’s Ball,” “The Nutcracker,” “Cinderella,” and “Mowgli, The Jungle Book.”
“There’s immense talent at Orlando Ballet School and the need for an exceptional teacher and coach, like Natasha, to challenge our students and help them perform at a professional level,” said Orlando Ballet School director, Phillip Broomhead. “Our Orlando Ballet School students have the unique opportunity to receive top notch dance instruction from some of the most phenomenal dancers and teachers in the industry, and I know Natasha will be a great role model and asset to both our students and faculty.”
