ORLANDO BALLET ENTERTAINS, EDUCATES, AND ENRICHES THROUGH THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF DANCE.

In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, Orlando Ballet is delighted to invite you to our very first Family & Sensory Friendly performance of Peter Pan. This condensed one-hour version of the magical classic will be on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Dr. Phillips Center.

When choreographer-in-residence Jorden Morris brought his beautiful ballet Peter Pan to Orlando, he also brought the experience of doing a sensory-friendly version for Pittsburgh audiences. Orlando Ballet leaders jumped at the chance to bring this opportunity to Central Florida audiences. You can prepare to attend with a visual social story linked here. We developed it with UCF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UCF CARD), based on Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s visual story.

Our dancers and staff received training from UCF CARD to understand more about how to make this performance welcoming and supportive to families of all ages and abilities. During the performance, adjustments to sound and lighting effects, including keeping the house lights dimly on, will be made.

Orlando Ballet’s commitment to expanding opportunities is reflected in community enrichment programs like Come Dance With Us — a unique program that gives children with varying abilities the opportunity to express themselves through the art of dance. Adding sensory-friendly elements to the popular one-hour Family Show was a natural extension. The beauty, splendor, and, yes, the flying of Peter Pan will be on full display!
