It’s January 5th and we are sharing with you the top 5 things you may not know about our upcoming performance – The Premiere Collection!
#1 “Lyric Pieces” will be performed to live music!
Jessica Lang’s “Lyric Pieces” will be danced to live music by our company pianist, Angelyn Traylor. “Lyric Pieces” is a contemporary masterpiece making its Orlando debut right at our home, Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre.
#2 The Twist on “Confronting Genius” you won’t want to miss.
Heath Gill’s “Confronting Genius,” another piece making it’s Orlando debut during The Premiere Collection, is a whimsical duet that looks at unshackling the artist inside us all. This modern twist on a classical pas de deux shows how Gill “wanted to look at the kind of serious subject of how tough [the] process is on that artist’s psyche and how we can self-deprecate…but I also wanted to look at it from a way that wasn’t taking itself to seriously.”
#3 All three pieces featured in The Premiere Collection will be Orlando premieres!
“Lambarena” by Val Caniparoli, “Lyric Pieces” by Jessica Lang, and “Confronting Genius” by Heath Gill are all pieces that have never been performed before in Orlando! We are so excited to present them to our audiences for the very first time.
#4 The Premiere Collection will be held at Orlando Ballet’s home, Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre
Audiences attending The Premiere Collection will get the intimate setting of Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre with the ability to see the dancers up close and personal. Take advantage of our valet parking service or find limited self-parking around the building for easy access in and out of the performance space.
#5 “Lambarena” is danced to a blend of J.S. Bach and Traditional African music
One of Caniparoli’s most popular pieces, “Lambarena,” is set to J.S. Bach mixed with Traditional African music and is a lively, upbeat performance that will surely have the audience wanting to get up and dance!
