JOB TITLE: Community Enrichment Teaching Artist

DEPARTMENT: Education

REPORTS TO: Head of Community Enrichment

LOCATION: Various locations throughout Central Florida

POSITION STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt, approximately 1 to 10 hours per week

 

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Community Enrichment, Teaching Artists are practicing artists in the disciplines of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts who are committed to working with young people. Orlando Ballet’s various Community Enrichment programs bring high-quality arts enrichment to a variety of groups throughout Central Florida by working through established after-school, year-round programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, City of Orlando Community Centers, Orange, Seminole and Osceola County schools, and other locations.   Applicants must demonstrate expertise working as professional artists, a strong commitment to working with educators and young people, strong communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to facilitate group decision-making, an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and a strong attention to detail.

Schedule & Compensation:  

Teaching Artists are typically hired for a semester-long program. Applicants must have availability to work during and after school hours, as well as occasional weekends, with an ability to travel throughout Central Florida to various workshop sites. Teaching Artists earn $40/hour of instruction and a $10/roundtrip stipend for travel. Workshop classes are generally 1 to 1.5 hours long and residencies vary in length but range from 8 to 12 weeks.
