A Thrilling Performance

Orlando Ballet presents the acclaimed production of Dracula, created by international choreographer Michael Pink. This show has been a huge hit with audiences around the world gaining cult status in Japan, Europe and across North America. It combines Bram Stoker’s classic gothic horror story with dramatic dancing by more than 60 dancers in a stunning production of sumptuous sets and costumes. The production was created in 1996 for Northern Ballet in England on the occasion of Stoker’s novel’s 100th anniversary and was described by London critics as chilling and flesh-crawling! This year marks the production’s 20th anniversary.

Dracula includes lavish décor and sets by Lez Brotherston (known for his designs for choreographer Matthew Bourne including the famous all male modern version of Swan Lake which won him a Tony Award for best costumes in 1999). His designs create a mysterious and gothic atmosphere, taking audiences to the 19th century Victorian era and Transylvania, home of vampires. Special effects add more drama to the stage making this the perfect show for someone who wants to try ballet for the first time. With dramatic music by composer Philip Feeney this is a  breathtaking story of passion, seduction, transformation and sacrifice. Orlando Ballet’s Dracula will be this Halloween’s most thrilling adventure at the spectacular Dr Phillips Center.
