May 2013 School Showcases

The Orlando Ballet School is proud to present the May 2013 Showcases for our youngest dancers through pre-professionals!

May 4-5: SPRING INTO DANCE 2013 -

Are the showcases for our youngest dancers and their families and will be held at the School’s Central location in the Main Hall. Each student is allotted 2 tickets with their registration and 2 for purchase for $10 each. Please contact the box office to pre-purchase your tickets. Although 2 tickets will be allotted to each student for their respective show, any additional tickets for sale MUST be purchased by by 6pm on Monday, April 29.  Any remaining tickets will be offered for sale to parents on the wait list on Tuesday, May 1.  These shows are not open to the public and there are no refunds.

May 17-19: STARS OF TOMORROW WEEKEND 2013 -

UPDATE 5/13/13: All enrollment tickets have been assigned to each student and those on the wait-list have been called. At this point please order anything extra you may need. Thanks for your patience!

Will be our showcases for the older students. Performances will be held at Oak Ridge High School, 700 W. Oak Ridge Rd. Orlando, FL. Parking is limited but free. These tickets will be available for sale on Monday, April 15th. Please note that the Box Office will be be open limited hours from April 15 until May 19th. If you can, please email your order to boxoffice@orlandoballet.org and it will be completed in the order is was received. Prices for all shows are: GOLD – $20, PINK – $15. Discounts are available and there are no refunds.  Seating is reserved. The weekend includes the following shows:

  • Friday, May 17, 7:30pm: STARS OF TOMORROW – this show is a preview of the future stars of ballet and the best Orlando Ballet School has to offer. This show is open to the public and will be sold across all Ticketmaster channels.
  • Saturday, May 18, 11am: LITTLE MERMAID – performed by OBII and pre-professional students. This show is open to the public and will be sold across all Ticketmaster channels.
  • Saturday, May 18, 7:30pm: SOUTH AND SEMINOLE SHOWCASE – school specific showcase, not open to the public
  • Sunday, May 19, 4pm: CENTRAL SHOWCASE – school specific showcase, not open to the public
PARENT SPECIFIC INFO for MAY 17-19!!!! PLEASE READ…
1. Because of the number of students in the program and the size of the theatre, each student will receive their 2 allotted tickets per enrollment and will be able to purchase 3 additional tickets for a total of 5 tickets for their respective showcase.
2. The box office will have a wait list for parents who need more than their 5 tickets.  Although 2 tickets will be allotted to each student for their respective showcase, any additional tickets for sale MUST be purchased by 1:30pm Saturday, May 11.  Any remaining tickets will be offered for sale to parents on the wait list on Monday, May 13.
3. There are 3 different packages available for sale which are discounted 20%:
√      3 Show Option: 1 ticket to your respective showcase, 1 ticket to Stars of Tomorrow, and 1 ticket to Little Mermaid, Prices: GOLD $48, PINK $36
√      2 Show Option: 1 ticket to your respective showcase, 1 ticket to EITHER Stars of Tomorrow OR Little Mermaid, Prices: GOLD $32, PINK $24
√      Public Option: 1 ticket to Stars of Tomorrow, 1 ticket to Little Mermaid, Prices: GOLD $32, PINK $24
4. WARNING!  Stars of Tomorrow and Little Mermaid are being sold online and at Ticketmaster outlets as of Monday, April 15. That means it’s possible these shows will sell out quickly and early!

Hansel & Gretel at Osceola Center for the Arts

Good overcomes evil in this ageless tale of two children who triumph over the evil witch and learn a valuable lesson about obedience. Conceived and choreographed by Dierdre Miles Burger and Robert Hill, this production predominantly features the memorable musical score by Engelbert Humperdinck.

These performances are at the Osceola Center for the Arts in Kissimmee, FL. The center is at 2411 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway (U.S. 192) in Kissimmee.

Hollywood En Pointe at The Garden Theatre

Principally choreographed by Robert Hill, Hollywood en Pointe is the world premiere ballet set to some of the most memorable scores of the silver screen. From the music of classic cinema, to newer works from today’s most beloved movies, this evening will captivate audiences and breathe new life into these scores through the beauty of dance.

These performances are at The Garden Theatre: 160 West Plant Street, Winter Garden, Florida 34787. Tickets are $25 or $21 for students/seniors.

The Nutcracker, School Show

The School Performance version of the Tchaikovsky classic is kept to 45 minutes long to keep field trips on time.

When her beloved nutcracker comes to life, Clara is whisked away on a magical adventure and your students will be too.

Tickets are $8 per student and 1 complimentary chaperone ticket is given for every 10 tickets purchased. Please call the Box Office at 407-426-1739 x20 to book in advance as these shows will sell out!

Vampire’s Ball

They’rrrrreeeee Baaaaack! By popular demand, Vampire’s Ball, the hit show that left everyone talking, is returning to kick off the 2012-13 season at Orlando Ballet. Vampire lore – frightening, erotic, and campy – is explored in this premier production from the creative mind of Orlando Ballet artistic director Robert Hill. Told through a series of vignettes featuring Mr. Hill’s signature choreography, set to an eclectic array of music – from classical to pop – this is a dance performance you can sink your teeth into.

The Nutcracker

Central Florida’s favorite holiday experience returns for four performances! The Orlando Ballet presents visions of Sugarplum fairies, the Cavalier, Snow King and much more as the company rings in the holiday season with its annual presentation of The Nutcracker (Dec. 20-23, 2012). Presented at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, The Nutcracker is a favorite among ballet patrons and newcomers alike. The performance is kept true with classical elements and an infusion of Artistic Director Robert Hill’s mix of choreography.

Swans: Black & White

Orlando Ballet artistic director Robert Hill takes a new look at the romantic saga Swan Lake. A classic tale of the struggle between beauty and betrayal, and the duality of human nature, told through elegant ballet and Tchaikovsky’s stirring score.

Hollywood en Pointe

Join Orlando Ballet in your finest Red Carpet attire for an evening of dance inspired by Hollywood glamour. Principally choreographed by Robert Hill, Hollywood en Pointe is the world premiere ballet set to some of the most memorable scores of the silver screen. From the music of classic cinema, to newer works from today’s most beloved movies, this evening will captivate audiences and breathe new life into these scores through the beauty of dance. Featuring a new work by guest choreographer Peter Chu. And a debut piece by Orlando Ballet dancer Arcadian Broad. 

Please note that there are no performances Sunday, February 17, 2013. The matinee performance will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2pm.


 

 

 

Carmina Burana

“Carmina Burana” Tickets are no longer available on TicketMaster, but Tickets are still available at the Bob Carr Box Office but they are going fast. Doors open at 1PM.

In a groundbreaking collaboration for Orlando Ballet, Carmina Burana concludes the 2012-2013 season with the live orchestra and 150 member chorus of the Bach Festival Society on stage. The original inspiration for Robert Hill’s masterpiece, Homage, the epic and famous score of Carmina Burana will wonderfully mesh with Hill’s new choreographic interpretation.


The Swan Princess

Destiny unites childhood friends Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette as they fall in love. A vengeful sorcerer kidnaps the Princess and casts a spell turning her into a swan. Kept to approximately one hour long to keep everyone’s attention, this Family Series version of the classic Swan Lake is wonderful introduction to the world of ballet. Arrive an hour before the show for fun activities including face painting, arts & crafts, meet ‘n’ greets, storytelling, demonstrations, and more.
